Chua Says Pas-Umno Unity Talks Good For The People
PASIR PUTEH, June 20 (Bernama) -- MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek said today the proposed unity government between PAS and Umno would help stabilise the country's political situation.
He said any party could discuss the issue of unity as it would benefit the people on the whole.
"We are confident that the talks would not affect unity among the races," he told reporters here.
The idea for a unity government between PAS and Umno was mooted by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang but was opposed by PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
Chua said that the unity government was in line with the "1Malaysia" concept mooted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He refuted claims that the talks would only benefit the Malays, saying he was confident that the Barisan Nasional under the leadership of Najib would continue to practice power-sharing.
"We have been a partner in the BN since the past 52 years and we are confident that Umno is aware of its responsibility to the people of Malaysia," he said.--

Chua voices anxiety over PAS’ talks on unity gov
MUAR: The unity talks between Umno and PAS will not be healthy for the country if it is aimed at forming a Malay government, deputy MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said.
He said if the talks are aimed at setting up such a government between the two Malay parties, MCA too could hold talks with the opposition parties, including the DAP.
Speaking to reporters here, he said if Umno wanted to hold the talks with PAS, it should include other component parties in Barisan Nasional.
“I have said in Kelantan recently that if Umno and PAS hold unity talks towards forming a Malay government, then the MCA too can hold talks with the opposition, not only the DAP.
“But this would not be healthy for the country, which wants to adopt the 1Malaysia concept,” Dr Chua said after a meeting with Barisan Nasional leaders from the Muar and Bakri divisions yesterday.
Dr Chua, who is the Barisan Nasional co-ordinating committee chairman, said efforts were being carried out to regain all seats lost to the Opposition in the 12th general election.

Chua travelled from Kelantan to Johor then malacca on 19/6 to 21/6 as written in his blog .Looks like Chua gave different opinions on the same issue on two different occasions. And 1 month ago Chua just speculated the possibility of himself joining opposition and now he becomes the vanguard of UMNO. Bravo Chua
